If you’re reading this, you’re probably wondering what’s behind the name Steel 43. Well, you’ve come to the right place.

Our story begins in 1843, when a horse named Steel Dust was born. Some say he was born in Kentucky, others say Illinois, but what all seem to agree on was that the horse was brought to Texas in his early youth. In this great state, Steel Dust would develop into a champion racehorse, the likes of which the world had never seen.

After his racing career was over, Steel Dust went on to father many foals, all of whom shared his traits. As cowboys drove Longhorns up the trails from Texas through the Great Plains, the name Steel Dust would come to stand for the most sought-after pedigree among breeders and cowboys alike. These American Quarter Horses that carried the Steel Dust blood would achieve incredible fame, some say “every bit as magnificent as the mythical Pegasus.”

The legend of Steel Dust lives on in every bottle of Steel 43 Vodka. Originally called Steel Dust 1843 Vodka, we later shortened the name to simply Steel 43.
